Wishes & Blessings

If I ask you, What is a Wish? or, What is a Blessing? What would be the first thing to strike your mind?

Wish; a desire ? or maybe, hope? for something to happen or come true. Can be tangible or intangible, materialistic or emotional, an event etc. One can wish for in a form of prayers; and when these wishes come to life, it’s often said to be a Blessing.

No, we are not being spiritual here. We will be talking about a NGO; named “Wishes and Blessings“.

Geetanjali Picture 2The NGO was founded by Dr. Geetanjali Chopra in 2014, with a vision to help the underprivileged. There could be many causes on which a NGO can be established; boxed or breaking the barriers; causes, Wishes and Blessings works for includes education, health, skill development, hygienic meals, infrastructure and relief among others; all of it for people of any age and gender. Numerous projects are on the work, with 16 plus already on the tracks to achieve these goals; some of these would be:

  • Sponsor a Childhood
  • Sponsor a Teacher
  • Daily Meals Programme
  • Birthday Manao
  • Elderly care
  • Unlimited Educational Supplies; etc.

The Journey:

Holi with Visually ImapiredThere’s an interesting story to the start of the journey. Dr. Chopra, in her early days, with her grandfather, used to visit a school of visually impaired ones to celebrate special occasions. One of those occasions was Holi of 2014, which she believes was the striking point and led to all there is today. From celebrating Holi with visually impaired children at a school to “Wishes and Blessings” to 12 partner institutions till date; it’s been a challenging, yet rewarding journey.

Some of the milestones achieved by the NGO so far;

  • Effected the lives of more than 1 Lakh people
  • Sponsorship of education for 250 children
  • Providing relief in SOS situations
  • Serving daily three hot and nutritious meals to 400 people (a total of 7,15,000 meals served till date)
  • Built toilets for old aged people
  • Day care centres for street children

  2. Dr. Chopra has taken a very good initiative. In this mean world, people bearly have time for their family members, whereas she is doing something for others. Education and food is a big problem in our country and it’s really nice to know she is helping the needy.
